8 laundry hacks for busy people

Doesn’t it feel good to walk past the laundry and know your laundry is up to date? For busy people juggling work and families, we’ve listed a few laundry hacks to make this household chore, which never goes away, as easy as it can it be.

1. Wash socks in a laundry bag

Never lose a sock again! Use a laundry bag and throw all the socks in, or two laundry bags if you have a large family. This simple hack will save you from the sock thief that seems to lurk near every laundry basket!

2. Ask – do I need to wash it?

It’s easy to throw everything into washing machine even if it doesn’t need a wash. Have a good look at the clothing or laundry item in the basket. Can it wait, can you wear it one more time? Or can you hang them in the sunshine for a freshen up?

Less washing saves time, money, and it means your clothes look good for longer.

3. Use the quick wash setting

You don’t have to press the same wash setting each time. If you have lightly soiled garments, don’t forget to use the quick wash cycle to save time. Often this is more than enough to wash lightly soiled garments.

4. Use chalk to remove grease

Chalk is effective at removing small grease stains from clothes as it lifts the stain out of the fabric. Keep a piece of chalk in the laundry and rub over the grease stain, leave a few minutes and then add to the washing machine.

5. Do a small pile load each day

Don’t let the laundry pile up. Not only does it become stressful to look at, you’ll also end up creating hours of washing! Do a small pile regularly, even a small load each day before you head to work is a great time saver. The laundry will end up feeling it’s much less of a chore.

6. Fold sheets and place them in pillow cases

7. Fold laundry immediately

Don’t throw the washing into the laundry basket once it’s dried. You may end up forgetting about it, doubling your workload with wrinkled clothes. Even worse, the kids will come along and add their dirty laundry on top and then you’ve tripled your workload with more to sort!

Fold the washing immediately when it’s dried, you’ll end up with less wrinkles this way and you’ll save yourself buckets of time.
